Energy Conservation Project Example - Rosboro
CLIENT: Rosboro Lumber Company
LOCATION: Springfield, Oregon
The scope of this project was to provide SUB (Springfield Utility Board) with
documentation for verification of potential energy conservation and replacement of
a 400 horsepower, 480 volt hog.
The project consisted of the following:
- Initial load measurement of existing power consumption
- Development of an overall project proposal
- Final verification load measurement of the new equipment
Evergreen, working with mill electricians, provided the services of modification of a
30-year-old medium voltage starter, adding intermediate potential and current
transformers to reduce the signal level for connection of Dranetz Demand
Analyzer. Readings were taken on one-minute intervals for fifteen minutes, then
reset to fifteen-minute intervals for a six working day period. The readings
recorded were demand kilowatts, kilo volt-amps, kilo volt-amps reactive, and
power factor with a daily summary. A project proposal was provided to SUB
identifying project scope costs and potential energy savings followed by
verification of load measurements.
